Artist Hellen van Meene (Alkmaar, Netherlands, 1972) is known for her (mostly) square photographic portraits of teenage girls. Her work was first exhibited in 1996 and has been shown around the world since then. Her photos are in the collection of many museums, incl. Guggenheim NYC & MoMA. She lives and works in Heiloo and her subjects now include still lifes, dogs and other animals. She is represented by Gallery Koyanagi in Tokyo, Japan and Yancey Richardson Gallery New York, NY, USA.

Inspired by the deep studies of human nature and history of art, she immerses the viewer into the uncanny world of unconscious and interpersonal, at the same time giving a lot of space for her images’ interpretation.

Tomasz Kulbowski is a documentary photographer interested in exploring the interaction between the people and environment, the private space and public space. In constant search of the moments, which can transform ordinary everyday scenes into unique short stories.
Born in 1975, lived and worked in London and Sydney, currently based in Lublin, Poland. His work has been published, exhibited and awarded worldwide, including the International Street Photography Award shortlist. Recipient of the President of Lublin City scholarship. Originator and director of the annual Eastreet exhibition and publication, presenting street photography from Eastern Europe. Contributor and tutor of WorkshopX. Educator and promoter of street and documentary photography. Member of the Un-Posed street photography collective.

ÇAĞLA SARAÇ

Born in Ankara in 1970, Çağla Saraç graduated from Beyoğlu Anatolian High School in 1987. Studying at Boğaziçi University and Concordia University, Saraç earned her bachelors degree in history before going on to do her masters at the Museum Education department of Ankara University’s Graduate School of Social Science.

Saraç taught art history, relations between art and culture, curatorial studies, and Turkish modern art from 2000 to 2015 as instructor at fine arts department at Bilkent University’s School of Fine Arts, Design, and Architecture. She helped arrange a variety of exhibitions and workshops with Turkish and foreign artists and art students. She has developed and implemented school- and museum-focused educations programs for groups with learning difficulties. Saraç has additionally worked on subjects as diverse as Turkish “Village Institutes”, Byzantine art, and cultural heritage protection and development. She is currently an art consultant at Doğuş Group.

In August 2003, he founded his own P.R., marketing and brand consultancy firm. Headquartered in Istanbul, METINGURSOY Brand Management & Marketing has quickly become one of the most recognized and sought after firms in the industry. He was behind behind the sensational launch of the Apple iPod in Turkey and, since then, his brand management portfolio has included such major brands as Absolut, Hermès, Davidoff and Jotun. Recently, he has been managing his company and focusing on Hermès’s P.R. and marketing activities in the Turkey. He is also teaching brand positioning and management at ESMOD International School of Fashion in Istanbul.

PIA ENTENMANN

Curator at Tarabya Cultural Academy, Goethe Institut

Pia works at the Goethe-Institut Istanbul since April 2017 and is in her function as curator heading the programme section of the Tarabya Cultural Academy. The residency programme run by the German Embassy in Ankara is aimed at artists of all sectors and promotes the interaction between German and Turkish artists. Pia has been working for the Goethe-Insitut since 2011, starting in its programmes department in Brussels, where she was responsible for the areas Film and Theater. She then worked in Paris as networking coordinator and was responsible for nation-wide art projects in France. Before moving to Turkey, Pia was personal adviser to the President of the Goethe-Institut in the Headquarters in Munich for three years. During her studies of Romance languages and literature and history at the University of Stuttgart and the Paul Valery University of Montpellier, she was a freelance journalist for various newspapers in Germany.

OSCAR FUCHS

Born in 1969 in Istanbul, Oskar Fuchs went to university in Switzerland after his graduation from the Deutsche Schule, a private German-medium high school in Istanbul. In 1992, Fuchs joined his family-owned business, FUCHS Chemicals, where he has held a variety positions over the years. Currently, he’s the CEO.

Fuchs developed an enduring interest for photography in high school. He’s studied art and photography extensively, and has masters degree in art history. In addition to his important painting collection, he is a major collector of photography.

Fuchs is the mastermind of Ara Güler and Doğuş Group’s collaboration, as well as a board member of Doğuş Photography and Camera Equipments. In addition to Turkish, his mother tongue, he speaks German, English and Greek. He is also the author of several books on photography.

NAFİZ KARADERE

A graduate of Ankara University’s School of Political Science, Nafiz Karadere worked as a senior executive at Garanti Bank before becoming vice president in 1999. Karadere retired from Garanti in 2016, but has stayed active: in 2017, he was a board member in DMS; chairman of Pozitif Müzik. chairman of Mobilet; chairman of Doğuş Yeni Girisim.; and chairman of bomontiada. Karadere is very active in philanthropy, and he is the chairman of Garanti Kültür, (SALT), vice-chairman of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Turkey, and vice-chairman of ÖRAV (Teacher Academy Foundation).
