Artist talk: Tim Flach x Burak Mert Çiloğlugil

Famous English photographer and honorary member of Royal Photographic Society, Tim Flach’s works will be showcased at the historical Hüsrev Kethüda Baths until October 11th. Flach has lately created a tremendous impression with his two-year-long project, ‘Endangered’ that he dedicated to threatened species. Tim Flach will be sharing his story, benchmarks of his career and the philosophy of his work with the Executive at Borusan Contemporary, Burak Mert Çiloğlugil.

Perfection, protests, system, fables, dreams and animals are the keystones of Helena Blomqvist’s scrupulously prepared scenes. The Swedish artist creates a familiar, yet peregrine world, through the scenes she has fictionalised. Her talk with Barış Çakmakçı will focus on her photography practice, notably her ‘Florentine’ series that will be presented at the festival.

Documenting Palanga with Hasan Çalışlar & Metin Çavuş

During this talk, Hasan Çalışlar, architect and founding partner of the Erginoğlu & Çalışlar Design Centre and Metin Çavuş, documentary maker and lecturer at Özyeğin University, will discuss the documentation process of the Palanga Art and Architecture Farm, in Erzincan.

Until this day, Mehmet Ali Bey Palangası, the farm belonging to artist and director, Kutluğ Ataman, has been home to six projects signed by famous architects. Hasan Çalışlar will be telling the story of the KA Palanga Guesthouse and goat sanctuary, built by Erginoğlu & Çalışlar, while Metin Çavuş will talk about the making of the forthcoming documentary about Palanga.

As can be seen from his series, ‘Tranquil Garden’,  featured at the festival, Hasan Deniz, is known for his photographic series without humans, employing an ambiguous temporality. Deniz will talk with Çağrı Akay, partner at Tabanlıoğlu Architecture, about architecture and photography. Prior to joining Tabanlıoğlu, Akay worked with Michael Sorkin on urban spaces and urban sociology, at the University of Minnesota / CALA,where he also received his M.Arch degree.
